“B2B, B2C companies need to follow the increasing requests of customer needs and renew themselves accordingly to please the end-users. Today, we witness how businesses in the industry had a digital transformation and used the new technologies.”
At the IDC Industry 4.0 event, we have a conversation with Nevin Çizmecioğulları, IDC Country Manager about the event and Industry.
IDC Industry 4.0 is the second sectoral event that IDC held. In the manufacturing sector, the effects caused by technology are named differently in various countries, like The Factory of Future, Smart Industry. Industry 4.0 is preferred in Turkey for that concept.
Industry 4.0 fundamentally aims to bring Information Technology and Industry together. There are a digital change and transformation in the whole industry.
Innovation Accelerator concept consists of Robotics, Internet of Things and big data analysis. Sensors and cameras prices dropped. So, we start to use robots in our daily life more. Besides the big data analysis becomes critical because new disruptive products are generated with the results of that study. For example, self-aware machines produce big data and warnings on maintenance and repair times to provide the zero distortion of the devices.
Well, what do the sector players do?
Çizmecioğulları answers the question as “B2B, B2C companies need to follow the increasing requests of customer needs and renew themselves accordingly to please the end-users. Today, we witness how businesses in the industry had a digital transformation and used the new technologies. Industry 4.0 is a concept accepted by the Turkish government and institutions such as TUSIAD, MUSIAD. Holdings rebuild their organizations by getting serious consulting services. Investments have started, and I believe we are on a right path. Formerly we saw the use of technology mostly in Telecommunications sector; the industry began to use it as well. We see it in the heavy industry, mining, automotive, etc. Today, we heard professionals from various firms in different sectors like Şişecam, Erdemir, Coca-Cola”.
The players are changing when we ask her opinion; Çizmecioğulları says “Yes, the players are changing. We see technology based companies like GE, Intel because they started to sell customers the products that they formerly produced for their use“.
Besides the manufacturing companies, we see also universities at the event like Bosporus University MIS department and ITU Arı Technocity. University, Industry and Technology Company, build a unique ecosystem.
Industry 4.0 concept now inevitably came into our life, so many large and small companies are forced to convert themselves to survive under the new rules. We realize the improving awareness from the interest in the event.
